Faster Than Fast - Quicker Than Quick

My poor boy was home sick from school yesterday and now that he's finally feeling better we needed a fun lunch with an old friend -- Lightning McQueen! Cars was the first movie he ever really paid attention to and it's been, pretty much, a lifelong love for my 6 1/2 year old. He loves both movies and Mater's Tall Tales and has shirts and books and almost every car with multiples of his favorites in different styles. (He even had a Lightning McQueen shaped bed that he slept in from the age of 1 until he moved into his new enormous queen-sized one just before school started this year!)
Today, he has a Lightning McQueen lunch:

I found the sandwich box and snack container a while back in the dollar bin at a local store (Family Dollar or Dollar General -- one of those). The lunch really did go together "faster than fast," too. He has a ham and cheese sandwich that I cut with a metal race car cookie cutter and I did the coloring with my Americolor food markers. I've drawn Lightning so many times over the years the sandwich took less than 3 minutes to have completed -- including the time it took to slice off a chunk of colby jack cheese and cut out the number 95 and a lightning bolt! He also has Cars fruit snacks, veggie sticks, dried cranberries and his Omega 3 gummies. Altogether? A quicker than quick lunch that clocked in at 5 minutes.

John was feeling a lot better this morning when he woke up so off to school he went with his Mater lunch!
For tomorrow he requested Luigi and Guido.

Ham and cheese on wheat for the two friends. Under them are yogurt raisins and "white wall tire" cookies. In the top of the box are Snapea Crisps and some veggie ranch dip in an EasyLunchboxes "Mini-Dipper" (I love that they fit so well in his other boxes, too!).

Like Tah Mater but without the Tah

Since John asked for Lightning McQueen of Tuesday it came as no surprise that his best friend would be requested for Wednesday's lunch. Unfortunately, the little guy is home sick today so we'll see if this turns into an at-home lunch, or if it will go to school on Thursday.

Mater is ham and cheese on wheat with pretzel sticks, grapes and a cut up colby jack cheese stick.

The first Lightning McQueen for first grade

If you've been following for a while you know that John is a HUGE Cars fan. For Tuesday he asked for a lunch based on the scene from the movie where Lightning first gets to Radiator Springs.

Lightning is pb&j on wheat (again -- it's his favorite and I'm not going to argue!) with peppermint patty tire eyes. Also in the box is a colby jack "95," fruit snacks, a clementine and veggie chips. The box also features Lightning McQueen on the lid and was a great $2 find at Family Dollar not too long ago!

Cars for the last day of Summer School

John asked for "just a sandwich" for tomorrow with no crust and cut into squares.
"Little bitty squares."

He's got roast beef on Rudi's Multigrain (of course) with Cars 2  fruit snacks, Smartfood Puffed Corn and cheddar cheese sticks. A Tow Mater ring is around one of the cheese sticks and will probably be around his finger for the remainder of the day! He'll also have a yogurt and juice.

Cars ... Again ...

Before John left for school this morning I asked him to go grab a book to bring me since it's been a while since we did a Story Time Friday. Of course, he brought me a Cars 2 book so it's more of a movie lunch than a book lunch. He asked for Sally, Lightning and Mater with Sally out of cheese. Sally came first and I was attempting to cut her out of my monterey brick when the knife slipped right into my left index finger so she ended up being cut out of a thin slice of provolone with one of John's Lightning McQueen snack containers and the rest of the lunch? Well, "half-assed" is putting it mildly.

Mater is a ham & cheese loaf sandwich with pepperoni bite wheels (which Sally also has), I used John's other Lightning snack container to hold some Cars Fruit Snacks (and get out of making a Lightning sandwich). Also included are grapes and a pack of Cars Pretzel Snacks.

Lightning McQueen - Quick & Easy

No school this week but that doesn't mean boring food (at least, not all the time!).

John got a Lightning McQueen PB&J lunch thanks to race car & numbers cookie cutters.

In the little side compartment are Cars 2 fruit snacks.

The pretzels are cars & lightning bolts from Utz's Cars Pretzels.

Lightning McQueen again!

Another half day tomorrow so once John gets home he'll have his pb&j Lightning sandwich with Cars fruit snacks and pretzels.

I  already have the rest of the week cut & colored. Now to turn them into actual lunches :)

ANOTHER @Disney Cars 2 Lunch!

Professor Z and Finn McMissle are the stars of the lunch bag this time. Each one is a small pumpkin cream cheese sandwich. Added are Mini Slim Jims, fruit snacks in the Holly Stillwell bag and grapes in the Lightning McQueen snack box.

Another Cars Lunch! (@Disney)

This time around Mater is the star with a cream cheese & jelly sandwich. Lightning is there, too, on his juice box & bag of pretzels. Also making an appearance is Holly on a bag of fruit snacks.

John loves Cars and Cars 2. Lightning McQueen & friends are all over our house. Tons of cars of various sizes. Clothes. Movies. Books. Even John's bed is shaped like Lightning McQueen. This is probably the first of many Cars related lunches.

I had just hard boiled some eggs and got the bright idea to try and mold one using one of John's little Lightning snack containers (which worked pretty well!)


Add in some Cars Fruit Snacks & Strawberry Gel with Peaches (chosen because it looked most like Lightning's colors) and we've got lunch!
