We're so lucky... to have another Vincent and the Doctor lunch!

Another lunch inspired by one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who. (Today is the 3rd Anniversary of its original airdate!)

Scotty Meets Future Spock

My favorite part of 2009's amazing Star Trek? Simon Pegg as Scotty. (I swear the man could read the phone book and I would buy it in HD and watch it on my iPad.)  Unfortunately one of my favorite parts of my favorite part doesn't seem to be anywhere online in a video clip .... but I do have a sound clip .... and a lunch!

To honor poor always-hungry Scotty I've got a meal and a half (at least) packed in my Laptop Lunch box! In the top left I have a roast beef, provolone and tomato sandwich with Scotty and Future Spock picks I made. Under that is some mac & cheese with tomato slices and colby jack "Well, that's brilliant." The side containers have key lime yogurt, Hershey Kisses and yogurt covered raisins.

Happy Birthday, Kyle MacLachlan!

I knew I wanted to do a fun lunch for myself to take to work tonight but I wasn't sure what ... until I saw that it's Kyle MacLachlan's birthday! What better way to celebrate than with a Twin Peaks-inspired lunch? (Cooper is, of course, my favorite of MacLachlan's roles.)

Now that we're on the mid-season break for Doctor Who I've decided to add Being Human back to my instant queue on Netflix .... even though I've already seen each episode at least twice.

Tonight's lunch is a tribute to Mitchell, George, and Annie from the episode "Flotsam and Jetsam."
The top left has mashed potatoes with Mitchell's quote in colby jack cheese.
The bottom left has rolled deli chicken breast topped with two small cheese sandwiches in the shape of a pigeon & George's shoe.
The top right has applesauce with Annie's tea cups.
The bottom right has Chobani Champions yogurt with Annie's book .... and yet one more tea cup.

Evil Dead -- Part One

The girl is reduced fat cheddar (not the easiest cheese to draw on) and a friend sent the pick I used for the hand reaching out to grab her. I could have drawn that, too, but the pick was too perfect and the pick part was easily hidden by the mixed veggies. The words are colby jack scraps from John's lunch and they all sit on a rice/veggie mix. In the top containers are grapes, Andes mints, and cottage cheese.

Easter Parade for a Bunny (Blog) Hop

When the Bento Bloggers & Friends started talking about doing a Spring/Easter-related hop I knew I wanted to participate with both lunch blogs, but didn't think I'd necessarily want a cutesy lunch for myself with bunnies and whatnot. Then I got thinking of all of the Easter-related movies out there and just about all of those are either highly religious in nature or kid-flicks ... but not Easter Parade!

EP was released in 1948 starring Judy Garland and Fred Astaire with music by the magnificent Irving Berlin. It touted itself on being "the happiest musical ever made" and while that may no longer be true, it still makes for a pretty great "Easter" lunch!

Judy and Fred are cheese on top of fettuccini. 

Also in my lunchbag but unpictures are a clementine, grapes, a hard cooked egg and some bunny & egg fruit snacks I swiped from John.

Percy Jackson in a Laptop Lunch Box

You know it's pretty bad when you have every intention of just having a "normal" lunch and end up still cutting and decorating and turning it into a lunch paying homage to the book you're currently reading/the movie you just watched. In this case my simple intentions were overthrown by Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

I've been reading the book on my phone and watched the movie on my iPad during a long ride on my recumbent bike this morning. I know that technically it's a "young adult" book and I'm far from being that. Go ahead and call it research for when John's old enough. Yeah ... that's it. Oh, and it kicks seriously fun ass.

In my Laptop Lunch Box: rotini and cheese with mixed vegetables, Yoplait Splitz yogurt, tossed salad with diced tomato and ranch dressing. "Percy," the lightning bolt, trident, and Hermes sneaker are all cheese. "Jackson" was cut from hard cooked egg white

Bangers & Mash for St. Patrick's Day

It's probably not the most traditional or the most festive St. Patrick's Day meal (I'll be eating after midnight so, technically, it'll be St. Patrick's Day) ... but it sounded good and it's what I'll be having!

I made a variation on the Apple Bangers & Mash that I made a few weeks back. [Chopped and cooked 3/4 cup peewee potatoes and mashed them with 1/2 Tbsp Country Crock, 1 Tbsp milk and 2 Tbsp applesauce. Cooked up two of the chicken sausages, chopped them and tossed them on top.] This time I added some McKenzie's Seasoning Blend and the addition of the onions and peppers made an already wonderful dish fandamntabulous! I know -- most people think of Bangers & Mash as a "British" dish thinking England but it's also quite popular in Northern Ireland which, of course, is part of the UK still so yeah ... it's an Irish dish, too.

Anyway, here's the food. Also in my Laptop Lunchbox is a tossed salad, shamrock shaped monterey cheese, Thousand Island dressing, and mixed melon.

Holy Grail: Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch

Tonight is the last night of my work week so it seems only right to wrap up the Holy Grail lunches with a bang ... in the form of the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch!

King Arthur: How does it... um... how does it work?

Sir Lancelot: I know not, my liege.

King Arthur: Consult the Book of Armaments.

Brother Maynard: Armaments, chapter two, verses nine through twenty-one.

Are YOU a fan of delicious flavor?

Not only am I a fan of delicious flavor, but also of the amazing USA show Psych ... so I just HAD to do a Psych-inspired lunch to take to work tonight in my Laptop Lunch box!

If you watch the show you already know about the pineapple obsession. If you don't watch the show, well, just know there's a pineapple obsession (and now go watch the show).

The sandwich pineapple is brown sugar ham, pineapple and pizza blend cheese in a whole wheat Sandwich Thin with lettuce leaves and monterey cheese "Psych" on the top. I love hawaiian pizzas so this just sounded like the perfect combination!

In the top right container is some pineapple cottage cheese (with extra pineapple).

In the bottom right container is my "sweet treat" for the night in the form of LifeSaver Gummies. Technically the bag is John's but when I saw one of the flavors I couldn't resist!

In the itty bitty container with the Gummies is some pasta sauce in case I decide I want to dip my sandwich in it!

Hi-ho hi-ho dangnabbit...

After four nights off it's back to work I go tonight. At least I'll be going with decent food, though, so it could be significantly worse. I suppose.

Tonight I'll be hiking up the hill in the snow with my Laptop Lunchbox full of yummyliciousness:

Just sat down at work to get eating and realized that I never posted what's in Mom's lunch bag. Whoops!

My big ol' box o' goodies arrived from reuseit.com including my new Laptop Lunchbox set (the one pictured plus additional inner containers):

Of course I had to use it tonight!

In my oh-so-awesome box: lettuce mix, hard boiled egg, tomatoes, ranch dressing, colby jack stick and a York Peppermint Patty Heart.

The box goes in the bottom of the bag. So what about the top?

Tonight my wristlet (which is on the bottom of the picture so you can't really see it but it's super cute), a good book, and Diet Mountain Dew (I need caffeine!).
