Edible Geekery Firefly Hop

Another Edible Geekery Blog Hop! This time we're honoring the memory of one of the most awesome shows ever to hit television -- Firefly. Haven't seen it? Get thee to Netflix ... or tune in to the Science Channel for an all day marathon on 11/11!

I've done other Firefly lunches before -- Kaylee, Jayne and River have all graced the blog in the past.

This time around I've got a simple lunch featuring a quote from the episode "Our Mrs Brooks" where Shepherd explains to Mal where he'll burn if he takes advantage of his new wife.
I've got a roast beef sandwich with colby jack letters, cinnamon sugar popcorn & vegetable beef soup.

Now click on the image below to hop over and see what's going on over at BentoForKidlet!

Firefly's River Tam

River Tam = the most amazing Joss Whedon creation to date.
A simple salad with River on deli chicken breast and her name cut from cheese. In the top left is some extra chicken breast rolled and held together with a pick and some extra cheese chunks. The right has my dressing.

Firefly's Kaylee

I absolutely adore the character of Kaylee on Firefly (and, of course, the film Serenity)! She's the girly-girl tomboy mechanic who can fix just about anything but still loves things that are fluffy and shiny. QMx captured her wonderfully in their Little Damn Heroes figure:
That figure is what I used for the basis of tonight's Kaylee lunch:
Clockwise from top left: gluten free brownie, sweet corn, leftover chicken wings with ranch, gluten free mac & cheese with provolone Kaylee and colby "shiny" and heart

Firefly's Jayne Cobb

I'm still more than slightly bitter that Firefly got canned after only one season, but I'm very thankful for Netflix having that season and Serenity so I can watch and rewatch.
Life without Jayne Cobb? Not at all shiny.
Tonight I've got some Garden Delight spaghetti with sauce, zucchini, yellow squash, Jayne and a Browncoat flag. Jayne is drawn onto some bread & butter that I'll use to sop up the sauce -- I found the picture of him and Vera at Zoom-Comics.
I'm sure there will be more Firefly lunches in the future ... til, then ...
