Super fast Stitch lunch

We neglected to even talk about today's lunch much less plan anything for it until we woke up this morning. Between the two of us this took less than 5 minutes to throw together! He has PB&J sandwiches shaped like Stitch and stars, cheese stick, Chobani Champions yogurt tube, Veggie Stix, orange slices, a mini chocolate donut, and his Omega 3 Gummies.

I believe in ... Psych!

I love the show Psych on USA. It's smart, geeky, witty ... and was the first non-lunch thing I remember really bonding with my beloved bestie over. I've done lunches for Psych before and now this one to celebrate tonight's season premiere! (Also go checkout the awesomeness over at said bestie's amazing BentOnBetterLunches!)
Based primarily on the season 6 episode "Dead Man's Curveball" and this speech (which, of course, is a takeoff on Bull Durham). Click on the link for the full clip ... or just watch the Psych-Out clip and ... wait for it ...

There's also a muffin just because of this clip and the fact that it reminds me of my favorite Psych-ic connection:

Angry Daleks

John got a new shirt from RedBubble yesterday and immediately decided that he needed it for lunch today ... so here it is!

The post that almost wasn't...

A very uneventful lunch today but John insisted that a picture get taken and a post be done just because he loves the lunch box that we were lucky enough to be given ;)
Mini PB&J sandwiches, jello with peaches, veggie sticks, Chobani Champions Rockin' Blueberry tube & some gummies (which are actually his Omega 3s).

Balto in LunchBots

The next book on John's list of "want-to-reads" is all about Balto! He's already seen the movies many times so getting a book that told more about the story was exciting for him. Getting a lunch? Even better!

The pictures and words are Empire Jack cheese. There are also Turkey Bites, Veggie Stix, FlipSides pretzel crackers, grapes, and Froose moose shaped fruit snacks.

Happy Birthday, Kyle MacLachlan!

I knew I wanted to do a fun lunch for myself to take to work tonight but I wasn't sure what ... until I saw that it's Kyle MacLachlan's birthday! What better way to celebrate than with a Twin Peaks-inspired lunch? (Cooper is, of course, my favorite of MacLachlan's roles.)

Clockwise from top left: cherry pie, mixed vegetables with provolone words, Chobani Black Cherry yogurt, SmartOnes Creamy Rigatoni with Broccoli & Chicken

Sweet & Simple

Last week we used the Beaba Trays for the first time with great success! John said that even though he dropped his lunch bag once (and can't help but swing his backpack around on the way to school) none of the food got mixed up and the lid didn't come loose ... and he didn't need any help getting the lid on and off when it came time for lunch. Add all of that to the fact that he loves having a variety of  "snacky nibbles" and it ended up being a winner all around!
Due to Mid-Winter Recess John doesn't have school this week but he still needs to eat and he's so in love with these trays that he'll get one to have at home today:
I had to work last night and it is quite possible that I will fall asleep on the couch right around lunch time. Luckily my boy is sweet enough to know to just go grab his lunch from the fridge and let me snooze when he's ready for it! In his tray he has Annie's Organic Cheddar Snack Mix, grapes, colby jack cheese, Snapea Crisps (with ranch dressing in the center to dip), Annie's Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks, and a hard cooked egg.

Vote Saxon!

It's Politicians week over at Bento Blog Network and while I've already linked up my Abraham Lincon Vampire Hunter lunch I immediately started to think of some of my favorite fictional politicians ... which, of course, had to include Harold Saxon.
Packed in my new monbento box, I have ravioli in the top layer & mixed vegetables in the bottom.
My TARDIS napkin fits in the lid.
And because no Doctor Who lunch is complete without at least one clip:

My Geeky Valentine Hop

The geeks have been unleashed yet again and this time we're getting all lovey-dovey for Valentine's Day!

So, after you take a look at My Bloody Geeky Valentine, take a stroll down Lover's Lane on over to BentoForKidlet by clicking on the button at the end (and then click it again there to continue!).

I'm geeking out over my love for Supernatural once again ... and, specifically, Cas and his love of ... hamburgers? (Don't judge the fallen angel. They make him very happy.)

Top Section: mixed vegetables with provolone words
Bottom Section: mini hamburgers (aka cut-up sliders), provolone Castiel

Happy Darwin Day from Mister Bobo!

No idea who Mister Bobo is and what he has to do with Darwin Day? If you have nine minutes to spare, this might give you a clue.
(You could jump to about 3 minutes in but then you'll miss 3 minutes of gratuitous Tennant.)

Huge thanks to Zoe's Lunchbox for also being a big enough geek to make Darwin Day lunchy!

100th Day of School Muffin Tin Meal

It's the 100th Day of School! Of course, John insisted on a special 100th Day lunch so here it is.
Isn't that tray great??? I was complaining about not having something more "muffin tin-ish" that wouldn't fall to pieces going to school for him and a friend told me about these trays. They're actually made for preparing/freezing portions of baby food but they work perfectly for lunches, too! The lid fits snuggly but isn't hard for him to get off. Each of the seven holes holds 2 ounces and is about 2 inches deep. Luckily it was easy to trim the ends off of the picks I used to get them to fit.
The top three holes each contain two tiny turkey and cheese sandwiches kabob-ed with a colby jack number and a trimmed star pick. The center has a hard cooked egg topped with colby jack "day." The bottom three hold grapes, gummies, and veggie sticks.

Ready, Freddy Reader: Good Morning, Groundhog! (@blackblum @storia_ebooks)

Here is the lunch in our black+blum bento box:
Based on this book on his Storia app:

He loves the Ready, Freddy Readers and is thrilled to know that there's a more advanced series of Freddy books when he's ready for them!

He read it - he made it! (Most of it, anyway!)

Last night John read a Scooby Doo Reader book on his Storia app -- A Very Scary Valentine's Day! After he went to bed I started working on his lunch for today by drawing Shaggy & Scooby on some Empire Jack cheese & making a heart shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwich... and then I went to bed before finishing.

Not to worry, though, because when we woke up this morning John finished making his lunch!

Along with his sandwich and cheese he picked out two heart picks and a french fry pick (for the fries Shaggy snagged from the cafeteria in the book), grapes, Turkey Bites, a few Mini Reeses, Veggie Sticks, his Omega-3 Gummies and, of course, Scooby Snacks!

Does your kid ever make lunch? Have you (or have they) made fun Valentine's meals? Have you made anything for lunch this week?

ZeptoLab's Pudding Monsters!

Last night I had no clue what I would send to school today for lunch. A friend suggested Om Nom from the game Cut The Rope and, since I've already done two of those, I decided to open up the game to get a new idea ... and that's when we found out about Pudding Monsters. John said "yeah yeah yeah!" when I asked if we should get it and even though we haven't had it for a full 24 hours yet he's already asked for a lunch of it and decided that it should be the theme for his 7th birthday party ... in June!
In John's lunch bag (which is actually my lunch bag but he was so cute when he asked to use it I couldn't say no), a turkey pudding monster sandwich that he designed right down to the number of eyes, bow tie, party hat and pine tree. (Play the game. You'll understand.) He also has clementine slices, veggie sticks, Empire Jack stars (Only two. I would've gotten three but I screwed up and only put five eyes instead of the requested six. It wasn't a perfect level for me!), and a pudding cup. You can't very well have a Pudding Monsters lunch without actual pudding, right?

Angry Birds MTM (Kinda. Sorta. Close enough?)

It's a pretty simple Angry Birds lunch today using the LunchBots Quad that John loves so much. It ended up being kinda like a Muffin Tin Meal .... sorta. Kinda.

Clockwise from top left:
Angry Bird Gummies, Angry Bird CheeseNips,
Nirvana Natural Foods Veggie Sticks, Old Wisconsin Turkey Bites

And John doesn't even have school today!!!
(I worked last night ... got home around 7:30am ... will likely pass out around lunchtime.)

Happy Groundhog Day .... Again!

I know, Groundhog Day was yesterday ... but in honor of the movie I decided to have it today, too!
Leftover chicken alfredo pasta with provolone "BING" & side salad with Empire Jack "Am I Right?"
