Wall-E's Boot

We all love Disney here ... and Disney-Pixar even more! Friday night John and I snuggled up and watched Finding Nemo and then Sunday afternoon the three of us (well, five if you count the cat & dog) watched Wall-E for the umpteenth-million time. Last year John had a pretty pathetic Wall-E lunch that he took to school one day (I'm almost embarrassed to link to it). This time he took Wall-E's boot (with plant):
The boot was drawn onto a peanut butter & jelly wheat sandwich and the plant was cut from an AirHead. There were also grapes, veggie sticks, his Omega 3 gummies, and he had a frozen yogurt tube also in his bag. All in all this lunch took just under 10 minutes to make -- including the time it took to figure out where I put the stash of AirHeads and cut the plant! Not too shabby!

Super fast Stitch lunch

We neglected to even talk about today's lunch much less plan anything for it until we woke up this morning. Between the two of us this took less than 5 minutes to throw together! He has PB&J sandwiches shaped like Stitch and stars, cheese stick, Chobani Champions yogurt tube, Veggie Stix, orange slices, a mini chocolate donut, and his Omega 3 Gummies.

Smile! It's Lewis Carroll's Birthday!

I don't normally post Monday's school lunch for John until Monday, but today is a very special occasion!
John watched the 1951 Disney Alice In Wonderland yesterday and decided that he had to have Chesire Cat for Monday's lunch. I printed up a picture of the cat and traced & tranferred it onto bread and colored him using AmeriColor Gel. The sandwich is ham & cheese. He's sitting on a branch built out of Mini Slim Jims. There are also dried cranberries and a little Trix cereal in his box.

Wondering what other Alice-related posts the Bento Bloggers & Friends have done (or have one of your own)? Head over to BentOnBetterLunches and check out the linky party!

Silly Ol' Doctor!

So how does a geek celebrate the birthday of A. A. Milne -- creator of Winnie the Pooh? With a Doctor Pooh lunch, of course!
The close-up:

Chicken Little

One of our favorite Disney movies is Chicken Little. It's one of the few that we've actually had to replace the dvd for because it was so worn and beaten from being watched repeatedly. When I asked John to pick out a book for last night's reading I was pleasantly surprised when he came down with a book that I had even forgotten that he had based on the movie!
Chicken Little is pb&j on wheat and is just a simple circle cut using a drinking glass and then drawn on with AmeriColor Gel Paste Food Color. His comb is cut from a Cherry AirHead. He also has popcorn (also a favorite snack of our favorite chicken), grapes, fruit snacks and a Mini Slim Jim.

Halloween Hop

Halloween is so close I can almost hear the ghosts howling in delight, can't you? We're celebrating a little early with a great Halloween Blog Hop so after you're done checking out what John and I are having, make you head over to Oh!Bento to see what treats (or tricks) are in-store next!

For John:
A break from our books for a special Jack Skellington lunch from The Nightmare Before Christmas!
Jack is pb&j on wheat. "Jack" is colby jack on top of SnapPea Crisps. There are also Halloween LifeSaver Gummies, yogurt raisins, and pieces of Mini Slim Jims in the main box. When John saw the small skull & crossbones Tupperware bowl he wanted something in that, too, and picked out the fruit salad.

For Mom:
A tribute to the Psych episode "This Episode Sucks"
Some pineapple & ham pizza, dried pineapple and cranberries, vanilla yogurt, and V8 cocktail labelled "Type O Negative."
And the preview clip from the episode:

Now, don't forget to go check out the next stop on the hop!
(All hop posts should give live around 9am EST ... or so ...)

Disney's Aladdin - As You Wish

We got to revisit some old friends last night: Genie, Aladdin, Jasmine and Abu! John was thrilled when he saw that one of the books in the library pile was As You Wish -- and even more thrilled when he could read most of it without any help!
Genie is a roast beef sandwich coming out of a colby jack lamp with more colby jack for the lettering (it's our favorite!). He also has yogurt raisins, a granola bar and some LifeSaver Gummies. An unpictured apple is also in his bag.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates

Thanks to yesterday being Talk Like A Pirate Day (by the way -- there's still time to do the Blog Hop Treasure Hunt!), the Disney Channel aired a special new episode of Jake and the Neverland Pirates which prompted John to ask for the crew for lunch for Friday!
I made Jake, Izzy and Cubby picks, a Bucky bologna and cheese sandwich (with cheese mast), and he also has string cheese, shark crackers, grapes and Jake and the Neverland Pirates fruit snacks.

Luigi & Guido

John was feeling a lot better this morning when he woke up so off to school he went with his Mater lunch!
For tomorrow he requested Luigi and Guido.
Ham and cheese on wheat for the two friends. Under them are yogurt raisins and "white wall tire" cookies. In the top of the box are Snapea Crisps and some veggie ranch dip in an EasyLunchboxes "Mini-Dipper" (I love that they fit so well in his other boxes, too!).

Like Tah Mater but without the Tah

Since John asked for Lightning McQueen of Tuesday it came as no surprise that his best friend would be requested for Wednesday's lunch. Unfortunately, the little guy is home sick today so we'll see if this turns into an at-home lunch, or if it will go to school on Thursday.
Mater is ham and cheese on wheat with pretzel sticks, grapes and a cut up colby jack cheese stick.

The first Lightning McQueen for first grade

If you've been following for a while you know that John is a HUGE Cars fan. For Tuesday he asked for a lunch based on the scene from the movie where Lightning first gets to Radiator Springs.
The inspiration:
The lunch:
Lightning is pb&j on wheat (again -- it's his favorite and I'm not going to argue!) with peppermint patty tire eyes. Also in the box is a colby jack "95," fruit snacks, a clementine and veggie chips. The box also features Lightning McQueen on the lid and was a great $2 find at Family Dollar not too long ago!

Oh, there you are, Perry!

John slept in this morning and I was up around 6:30 .... so I decided to surprise him by making a cute lunch! Summer school ended on the 16th and he doesn't start 1st grade until September 4th so I've pretty much slacked off on the cuteness and we've just been eating whatever we grab when we get around to it.

Today when John finally gets around to going "Moooooom I'm hungry!" he'll be able to just go grab his Perry the Platypus lunch from the fridge! (Complete with a Phineas & Ferb thermos of Crystal Light lemonade!)
Perry is drawn onto a salami sandwich on Rudi's Multigrain with cheese tail and beak. Holding the tail up is an All Natural Grape Fruit Twist from Aldi's and below him are Veggie Straws. He also has a Phineas & Ferb GoGurt tube on the side.

Cars for the last day of Summer School

John asked for "just a sandwich" for tomorrow with no crust and cut into squares.
"Little bitty squares."
FunBites CubeIt to the rescue!!!
He's got roast beef on Rudi's Multigrain (of course) with Cars 2  fruit snacks, Smartfood Puffed Corn and cheddar cheese sticks. A Tow Mater ring is around one of the cheese sticks and will probably be around his finger for the remainder of the day! He'll also have a yogurt and juice.

Oh Toooodles!

Tomorrow John asked for a "snacky lunch" with Toodles from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse:
Pepperoni, grapes, Fritos scoops, Toodles and "Toodles" out of cheese, and probably yet another yogurt tube since he seems to be a tad in love with them lately!

Stitch Celebrates The 4th!

Tomorrow is the last day of school before the 4th of July so we've got a festive lunch! Well, festive for Stitch and John .... not so much for poor Myrtle! (Based on this pin.)
Myrtle is bologna & cheese on Udi's White. Stitch is monterey jack.
Under him are grapes. Also included are Frito's Scoops and fruit snacks

Swampy from Where's My Water?

Another favorite game of John's is Disney's Where's My Water?
Of course, Swampy had to become lunch sooner or later!

Swampy is bologna & cheese on whole wheat. He's joined by string cheese, grapes and fruit snacks.

Toy Story Alien Dude -- with Step-By-Step Tutorial

A friend of mine asked me to do a sandwich art tutorial and Pin it for him to send to his sister but as wordless as possible so he could maybe understand it, too. (He's a college student and has to "read too much as it is! LOL!) I asked if he had anything in particular in mind and he asked for "that three eyed dude from Toy Story." Works for me and will definitely work for John because he loves all three Toy Story movies!

I think it's pretty self-explanatory except for maybe Step 7. That brown thing getting ready to cover the Alien Dude is a napkin I used to soak up some of the still-wet food gel. I typically don't need one with the natural colors, but I went for the gel this time because I knew I wouldn't be coloring it in completely so it would be minimal amounts of artificial coloring.
After the lunch got put together completely, this is what John will have in his lunch bag tomorrow:
"Alien Dude" ended up being ham and cheese. Under him in John's Toy Story container are yogurt raisins and star crackers. He also has a Yoplait Splitz and a Tummy Tickler Apple Juice bottle.

Lilo & Stitch

To say that John loves Lilo and Stitch is probably one of the biggest understatements going.
We watch the cartoon series wherever & whenever we can find it.
He has all of the movies.
He has action figures.
He has just about every "cousin" memorized by name, talent and original number.
His birthday party in June is going to have a Lilo and Stitch theme (and custom invitations)!
And tomorrow he will have a Lilo and Stitch lunch!
The dynamic duo are turkey sandwiches on whole wheat.
They're standing on grapes.
"LILO" is Scrabble Jr Cheez-Its.
"& STITCH" is monterey jack cheese.
The little guy on top? Johnny invented his own "cousin" for Stitch:
An experiment made out of green grapes who shoots fire out of his back (the grapes are held together with a toothpick and the flames are slivers of carrot!).

Cars ... Again ...

Before John left for school this morning I asked him to go grab a book to bring me since it's been a while since we did a Story Time Friday. Of course, he brought me a Cars 2 book so it's more of a movie lunch than a book lunch. He asked for Sally, Lightning and Mater with Sally out of cheese. Sally came first and I was attempting to cut her out of my monterey brick when the knife slipped right into my left index finger so she ended up being cut out of a thin slice of provolone with one of John's Lightning McQueen snack containers and the rest of the lunch? Well, "half-assed" is putting it mildly.
Mater is a ham & cheese loaf sandwich with pepperoni bite wheels (which Sally also has), I used John's other Lightning snack container to hold some Cars Fruit Snacks (and get out of making a Lightning sandwich). Also included are grapes and a pack of Cars Pretzel Snacks.

Agent P from Phineas & Ferb

John asked to have Agent P for lunch tomorrow. I know he's having a pretty substantial in-class snack (since I'm providing it), so lunch is a bit on the small side.
Agent P is a bologna and cheese sandwich with added cheese for his feet, tail and bill. "Agent P" is also spelled out of cheese. Also in the container are some Bugles and an orange gelatin with mandarin oranges cup on the side.

Yep. For once I actually spent more time on my lunch than I did on John's!
